"God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." --Genesis 1.27
Q. Since there is but one God, why do you speak of three: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?
A. Because that is how God has revealed himself in his Word: these three distinct persons are one,
true, eternal God. (Heidelberg Catechism, Q&A 25)
Scripture teaches us that we were created in God’s image. Though God is One being, God exists in a Trinity of persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. So, part of being human is being made for community, because God exists in community. It seems people are craving community more and more today. Though incredible advances in technology have connected us around the globe more than ever in history, we have less connection to our families, friends, and neighbors than ever in history. We are a disconnected and isolated people.
In our community groups, people meet to grow in their faith, have fun, and care for each other. Read the descriptions below, and if you are interested in joining or finding out more, contact Mavis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our group generally meets two times a month on Sunday evenings from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the church, with childcare provided. Our time together usually includes a potluck dinner, fellowship, studies and prayer. Recently the study portion of our time has been based on various books, including Organic Outreach by Kevin Harney, Knowing God by J.I. Packer and a study of Proverbs, an old testament book of the Bible. We are always excited to welcome new people (with or without children), so don't hesitate to contact us if you want to join us!
Sunday afternoon life Group
When: 1st Sunday of the Month @ 11:45am (Fireside Room at Church)
Contact: Mavis at email@example.com
Our group is mostly "empty-nesters," but not all, and we welcome singles or couples of any age. We meet once a month for coffee and dessert, prayer and share time. Our purpose is to be a support to each other, to laugh and cry together and grow closer to the Lord through prayer.
We now meet at the church in the Fireside Room every first Sunday of the month at 11:45am. Because most of us are at a time of life where we can enjoy day trips and outings, we usually email each other before the meeting and see if we have at least 3 households in town and planning to attend.
We'd love to have more members. Let us know and we'll add you to our email group!
