Obituary - Roger Louis Fennema, June 24, 1943 to February 1, 2010
Born in Chicago to Clarence and Cecile (Spyksma) Fennema, Roger died after a courageous battle with cancer.
Roger enlisted in the Air Force in 1966 and spent time in Oklahoma and Turkey. He married Carol Tjarks on August 14, 1971, in Oak Forest, IL. A year later they moved to San Jose. Their two sons, Benjamin and Brandon, were born after they moved to Los Gatos.
Roger spent 30 years with Chek-Chart, an automotive publishing company. After retiring as Executive Editor in 1999, he continued to do contract writing and free-lance editing. Roger had a very competitive spirit and especially enjoyed table tennis and racquetball. He was a candidate master in postal chess, and was also active in community youth sports for many years.
Roger is survived by his wife, two sons, one brother, and two sisters. A visitation will take place on Thursday, February 4th, from 5-8:00 p.m., at Darling-Fischer Chapel of the Hills 615 N. Santa Cruz Avenue in Los Gatos. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday, February 5th, at 11:00 a.m. at San Jose Christian Reformed Church, 5150 Camden Avenue, San Jose, CA. Interment to follow at Los Gatos Memorial Park, San Jose, CA.
