Pastor George Ebbers, 1929-2009
Pastor Ebbers was the pastor of San Jose Christian Reformed Church from 1968 to 1981. He died on December 31, 2009. We share in the grief of Pastor Ebbers' family and the hope we all have of being together in Christ one day.
From the liturgy
George was the fourth of seven children born to John and Leida Ebbers. George served humbly in the ministry for over fifty years and touched many lives. He served churches in Tyler, Minnesota; Willard, Ohio; San Jose, California; Guam; and Redding, California. Early in 2009 George expressed a desire to preach one more time in the San Jose Christian Reformed Church and began to prepare that message. He preached that sermon on June 14, 2009, entitled “Citizens of Heaven.” He will be remembered for his love for his family, his wry sense of humor and his ability to listen with understanding but without judgment.
