Bible Study Groups
Disciples Group | Sunday Evenings
We meet on Sunday evenings, twice a month, 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. at a member's home. The group consists of couples and singles. We share discussion, prayer time, fellowship & refreshments.
Young Families Group | Sunday Evenings
Our group is made up mostly of couples with children five years old and under as well as anyone else who wants to join us. We generally meet two to three times a month on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 in one of our homes – with a combination of studies and social events. We tend to be prompt with the time due to the fact that many of us have child care arrangements during the meeting.
Group members take turns bringing snacks and leading the lessons on a rotating basis. We have done a variety of materials over time, and usually discuss the format as a group before determining the direction for the coming months.
Almaden Life Group | Sunday Evenings
Our group is mostly "empty-nesters," but not all, and we welcome singles or couples of any age. We plan to meet twice a month, or perhaps every other week (we'll decide together), taking turns at each others' homes, if your house is large enough and you wish to host. We meet on Sunday evenings, starting at 6 pm with dinner -- we chip in for pizza -- and then we have our Bible study and share & prayer time.
Often we've found that we do best with books, Bible studies or devotions that don't require "homework," where we can come to the meeting and read and discuss a lesson without having read or prepared beforehand, except for the person leading. Different members take turns leading different discussions. No one has to lead, just those who wish to to do so.
Senior Bible Study Group | Tuesday Afternoons
Our group meets weekly on Tuesdays, 1-3 pm, at a member's home. Our group is mostly couples but also several singles who attend San Jose CRC and others who are interested. Our goal is to promote growth and development in our walk with the Lord.
Our typical meeting format is a time of light refreshments, some hymn singing, prayer requests and prayer, then Bible study. Members alternate leading the discussion of chapters in the book of Psalms.
Coffee Break – Women’s Bible Study | Wednesday Mornings
Our group meets weekly on Wednesdays, 10-11:30 am, in the Fireside Room here at church. Our group, consists of women who attend San Jose CRC and others who are interested. Our goal is to promote growth and development in our walk with the Lord.
Our typical meeting format is a time of light refreshments, some hymn singing, prayer requests and prayer, then Bible study. We have been studying and discussing the book of Psalms. We welcome new members!
Bible Study Group | Flexible Schedule
We are a small mixed group of young couples and singles. Since we are very busy with school, travels and work, we do not have a regular meeting schedule. We meet whenever we're in town and available.
Other Groups
Beautiful Day Group | 1-2 Times Per Month
This group meets for the purpose of reaching out into the community to do good works. We schedule 1 or 2 good works to do each month. The congregation and the public will be invited to participate in the community service we plan to do. By doing community service as Christians alongside with the public we hope to share the gospel and meet new people. We meet twice a month at the leader's house. Group members take turns bringing snacks. If you would like to have a beautiful day each month and participate in the choosing and organization of a monthly beautiful day, join us!
Significant Books Club | Monthly Saturday Evenings
Our book club was originally formed to discuss books that were especially significant to us, hence the name. However, we don't stick so much to that original intent any more, we just pick books we think are interesting for whatever reason. Basically, we're a bunch of book lovers who get together at the leader's house and talk about what we're reading.
We meet on Saturday nights, about once a month, at 7 pm. We have snacks and dessert and discuss the book we've read -- and many other topics. At each meeting we choose our next book and our next meeting date. You can see a list of the books we've read so far on our Google group site. We tend to read more novels than non-fiction but we're open to whatever sounds good. We have members of all ages.
If you love to read, we'd love to have you join us!
